John heads up our new Licensed and Hospitality Sector with responsibility for all things associated with hospitality – licensed premises, hotels, guesthouses and hostels – with a specialty focus on the sale, letting and valuation of Dublin licensed premises.
John has vast experience of the pub and hotel sectors having previously worked for CBRE as a Director of its Hotel and Licensed Department for over a combined twenty years. During his career, John has handled the sale of many iconic licensed premises including The Rathfarnham Orchard, The Dollymount Inn, Café-en-Seine and The Stag’s Head to name but a few.
John holds a Master in Real Estate from TU Dublin achieving first place for his thesis focusing on the hotel sector. John also holds a BA (Economics & Administration) from Trinity College. He is a Registered Valuer and member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (MSCSI) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). Prior to this John worked for the ICC Bank and was owner / manager of the landmark Ryan’s Pub, Parkgate Street, Dublin 8.
John is a Dub growing up on the Northside of the City. His family background is pubs and his grandfather established the famous Victorian bar, Ryan’s of Parkgate Street, close to the Phoenix Park. John enjoys many outdoor activities and is an enthusiastic tennis player, cyclist, golfer and skier. He currently serves as a Committee Member on Leinster Tennis and is a former Tennis Captain of Elm Park Sports Club.
John also enjoys gardening and is fanatical about grass cutting!!
